The lack of personal interaction throughout the COVID pandemic was a mental challenge. As I missed not seeing my sales team and colleagues, I wanted to start to share some of the things I learned, or thought about from the previous week. My hope was that not only is sharing caring, but also that there might be some information that I have been exposed to, that can also help others in their growth and development.
I hope this blog helps to inspire or at the lease provide some food for thought for you also.
What I LEARNED
Last week I was fortunate to be selected to go on the Samsung Senior Leadership Programme (SDLP). This is a 5 module course spread over 6 months with the objective for me to become a better leader. As our team continues to expand and grow, this is especially important for me to remember the significance of my role in ensuring we continue on the path for expansion (both for you professionally and also as a business).
The key points I learned from last week’s sessions were:
· You manage things – You LEAD PEOPLE
· What you do, proves what you believe.
· If you can’t control something – let go of it as it will drain you emotionally. Impacts clarity of thinking and ability to inspire.
· The most highly effective people focus on what’s in their control. This equals impact & progress.
· Rather than focus on problems, focus on solutions. – What could the best case scenario be. Act / Think positively!
· Your 27% more likely to end day feeling sad if you watch/ listen to the news in the morning.
· Thinking fast – Glucose level depletion between breakfast and lunch means certain amount of decision making fatigue.
· As a leader it’s impossible to know all the answers.
What I LOVED
On the course, we talked about going the extra mile, and what raising the bar looks like in a world where most people just what to get things done and move on. We were shown this YouTube video which I thought was brilliant, to highlight how emotions and playing to the head and the heart can have a positive impact: (The first 2 mins detail the story).
What I LIKED
I’ve been listening to this podcast series whilst our running, called The High Performance Podcast, and last week I listened to an episode with the England Football Manager, Gareth Southgate. One thing that stood out for me personally from listening to this was the importance of building resilience by going through hardship, and being authentic through the strength of being yourself, especially against the winds of scrutiny.
Music to kick start your week:
I couldn’t help but smile listening to this over the weekend, as it took me away to somewhere tropical (in my head!)
Final thought:

Feedback is a gift, and I’m always trying to improve or understand what’s working and what’s not. Please leave any constructive feedback that you feel can help me improve or continue with what’s working.
Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a successful and fulfilling day.
