Morning Team and I hope you had a lovely relaxing weekend.
Well it was another busy week last week, and thank you for everything you do to make this team so successful. I’m so proud of you all. Here’s a few thoughts of what was going on in my word last week:
What I LEARNED
Last week I was fortunate to be asked to be part of an industry roundtable, to discuss how the marketing industry can become more diverse and inclusive. The session included a number of people from across the industry, but most importantly it included students who have graduated from the Brixton Finishing School to discuss their experiences from actually being in the workplace. What I found out was that not only is there still a long way to go in hiring diverse talent, but also there is now a challenge for inclusivity once students are able to get into the role.
Everyone agreed that the industry had made strides in recruitment of people from diverse backgrounds but the ‘inclusivity’ part of the equation was still lagging. Diverse hires are still not finding the welcome they had hoped and the opportunities to progress. The road in is a great start, but once you’ve arrived at your destination how are you going to be made to feel at home?
This was quite an eye opener to me, and highlighted the importance of authenticity. There are a lot of companies and people out on social media talking a good game, but words count for nothing unless you action them. It also highlighted to me the importance of culture, something we have tried to invest a great deal of time on here at Samsung Ads, and so I am continually delighted when new hires call out the ‘family style welcome’ they receive upon joining, not just from their team, but across all divisions.
We are by no means the final product, and it would be complacent to think we are. As part of a growing business, change is the constant variable we face, but ensuring we maintain the culture of Hardwork, Humility and Harmony, will help aide us on this journey. Hearing the award nominations last week is testimony to this, so THANK YOU all for making this work environment inclusive, rewarding, and fun. If there are ways in which it can be improved, then please do let me know.
What I LIKED
I don’t know about you, but trying to keep up with the amount of news and updates going on in the industry, can be difficult sometimes. Every lunchtime I try to get out for a walk to get some fresh air and be away from the laptop, and in these moments I tend to listen to various podcasts. I’ve been searching for a good CTV industry related podcast, and recently came across this one, which I’ve been quite enjoying, so wanted to share: INSIDE THE STREAM PODCAST
Music to kick start your week
Well its another grey soggy morning out there, so I thought I would continue with something to get us up and pumped for the week, as per last Monday’s choice of music. This one needs to be played LOUD, and you need to do the air drumming AND air guitar to it please. Prizes for anyone who dares send a picture (or video) of them carrying out said air musical ) – CLICK HERE TO JUMP INTO THE WEEK (TURN IT UP!)
Final thought:
I tend to have affirmations printed out on my wall next to my desk to remind me that its ok to fail sometimes, and as long as I try my best and look after others as best as I can, then that’s all that matters. Over the weekend I printed out my favourite affirmation of all time from one of my favourite sport stars of all time, so though I’d share it with you today:

Feedback is a gift, and I’m always trying to improve or understand what’s working and what’s not. Please leave any constructive feedback that you feel can help me improve or continue with what’s working.
Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a successful and fulfilling day.
