Morning team!
A very Happy Monday to you all and I hope you had a lovely relaxing weekend.
What I LEARNED
Every week I try to do at least one 5K run, sometimes longer, sometimes more than one run. Last year I gave myself a goal of doing at least one 5K run a week and managed to achieve this. This year I didn’t give myself the same goal, but what I learned was how this original goal has turned into more of a habit, as I now enjoy the benefits of getting out into the fresh air to get some exercise, but also to give myself the time and space to think. If you’ve ever had a great idea in the shower, it’s the same process the brain goes through when it’s not concentrating on anything in particular. Running also gives me the time to listen to podcasts, and one I listened to this week which I loved, and completely agreed with / brought into, was a new series I hadn’t listened to previously called ‘Take Flight’, a series all about dreaming the impossible and providing tools of how to get there. This particular episode is with with Clive Woodward, and his philosophy on managing high performance teams. Having read Sir Clive’s books in the past, I’m a big advocate of his teamship principles, so if you’d like to find out for yourself then I would recommend this podcast –
What I LIKED
Every morning I try to grab 10 mins in silence to listen to the Calm app and mediate by listening to the Daily Calm. This morning’s daily calm meditation practice was about FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), and how it can lead us to compare ourselves to others, especially in a world of social media where everyone is promoting their best selves. Everyone is fighting a battle that you don’t know about, so in a week of thanksgiving, its nice to take a step back and be thankful for all that you do have rather than what you don’t.
Music to kick start your week
Seeing as its Thanksgiving week, I had to choose an oldie from the old US of A and so had to be a classic from the Boss –
