Morning Team.
For those of you who are new to Monday Morning Musings, this is a weekly email I started to write back in 2021 as a means to stay connected to the team during Lockdown.
It’s a constant challenge for me to connect with so many of you, especially now that the team has grown across Europe. Nothing beats regular face-to-face contact, but by sending out this weekly email, my goal is to try and open up about share with you the things that I have learned and that are important to me as a person. By doing this I hope I am able to connect with you all and share my vulnerabilities along with my weekly observations so that you can get to know me better, and hopefully learn a few things along the way.
What we do day to day is all about human connections, so I’m always trying to find ways to make this more efficient and valuable.
If you feel like this email is irrelevant or not useful then that’s totally fine, just ignore or delete it, I won’t be offended. If it helps 1% or that you’ve learned something new to help aid your own personal growth and development, then I’ll feel pleased to have made a difference to that 1%.
What I LOVED
What I loved last week was executing the first customer-facing team offsite. Its been six years in the making, but to finally have everyone together, from across Europe, was such a special moment. There were so many special moments from across the 3 days that it would be difficult to list them all, but for me the power of human connections, and taking the time to understand your fellow work colleagues will help us become a stronger unit. As we head into Q4, never has this been more important!
What I LEARNED
During the Summer holidays, I was lucky enough to go to Spain with my family. One of the reasons why we chose Spain, apart from it being a beautiful country, was so that my children could practice their favourite subject at school – Spanish. What I experienced though, certainly at the beginning of the holiday, was their hesitation to want to speak the language in restaurants and in other service areas.
Once I had given it a go myself and tried to converse in the local language, badly, they started to open up and try speaking it towards the end of the week.
What I learned from this is that sometimes, it’s important to give it a go. You aren’t, and can’t be expected to be perfect, but you have to at least try. That is how we learn in life.
As my kids started to talk, you could see their confidence rising and they weren’t afraid to try it again. It reminded me of a quote that I’ve included in my final thought below.
What I LIKED
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of volunteering at a Foodbank in Euston, with a few other team members. It was a very humbling experience and reminded me of the power in giving back to those less fortunate than ourselves. It was also a sober reminder to be thankful for what we have. Sometimes we can be disgruntled with things that are outside of our control, yet we are lucky to have options and ways to take control, that might not solve the problem but can get us close.
There are a lot of people out there who literally have nothing, so it was an important reminder to keep things in check and to be thankful for the things we do have.
Final thought

Here is some music to kick start your week. Some of you may recall it being sung at the offsite – apologies about that!
Have a great week.
