Supporting each other & Remembering to Laugh – From November 6th 2023

Morning Team.

I hope you had a nice weekend with whatever you were doing. Here’s what’s been on my mind over the past week.

What I LOVED

Last week was the start of the 3000 push up challenge, which I have to say I have Loved! Why on earth would anyone love having to do 100 push ups a day I hear you say? Well for me this challenge is teaching me a number of things that I wanted to share in case it helps any of you currently participating in the challenge, or might be thinking of starting your own personal challenges, whatever they may be.

  1. First of all I’ve learned that the challenge has been more mental than physical. The thought of doing it is very different to actually getting on and doing it. Once I can conquer my mindset and just start my daily push ups, I know that I’m committed and its never as bad as what my mind is telling me.
  2. Secondly I love the health benefits and the dose of Serotonin I receive after completing my 100 push ups each day. It feels good to achieve something, especially when I feel physically better for it afterwards. The challenge is helping overcome the body and the mind.
  3. I touched on the importance of daily habits in another MMM, and this daily push up challenge is a prime example of picking a time of the day in which to complete a task, and trying to stick to it. I’ve not missed a day yet, as its starting to form a daily habit that dare I say it, I actually look forward to!?
  4. I’ve loved the team aspect and camaraderie that this challenge has created with so many of you across the team taking part. Supporting one another to get through the challenge together is such an important aspect of teamwork that its great to see this in action through this challenge.
  5. The final aspect of this challenge that I’ve learned is the importance of breaking down the daily 100 push up challenge into small segments, so as not to exert any pain or damage. I started at performing 4 x 25 blocks, and have managed to get to 2 x 50 blocks of push ups. My own personal goal is to see how close I can get to 100 push ups in one sitting, so will let you know how close I get to this at the end of the challenge.

Thank you to Andy Jones for instigating this challenge. For anyone who would like to donate to this worthy cause in aid of Teenage Cancer Research, please check out the website below:

What I LEARNED

Last week I went to see a live Podcast with a friend of mine who is going through a challenging time at the moment. I don’t often make time to see friends during a week night, as I have so many family (and sometimes work) commitments.

Although we discussed some of the challenges going on in his life at the moment, the majority of the time we spent enjoying and pretty much laughing all the way through the live podcast performance.

This evening out taught me not only to make more time for friends, but also the power of laughter and shared experiences. It can be so easy to get stuck on the weekly treadmill, so taking time out to look after yourself (and others) is important.

What I LIKED

I was late to the game when it came to the HBO series Succession, and although I found Series 3 somewhat of a challenge to get through, Series 4 has got me gripped. Working in the media industry, and having a knowledge of the power media can have on society has made it even more intriguing for me. Watching the show makes me pleased I don’t have the same desire for Power and Wealth like some of the characters, especially as the show portrays the un-happiness most of the characters have in their drive to always want more than they have. If you’ve not seen Succession then check it out.

Final thought

Here is some music to kick start your week.

Have a successful week everyone.

Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a successful and fulfilling day.

  1. Great work Nik. If you’re already doing 2 x 50, you will definitely crush 1 x 100 by the end of the month!
